I recentley replaced my hub assembly on my passenger side front of my 1999 gmc jimmy. When we were taking the caliper off we noticed one of the brake pads was cracked so we replaced the brake pads. Once everything was put back together the Hub is great. The problem I am having though is when I turn the wheel to the left or make a left hand turn I hear a almost metal to metal sound kind of like a eek eek noise. I was told that the calipers are more than likely bad and the rotor too. I havent ever replaced the calipers and I am at 192,000 miles. Is this more than likely the problem?

well you need to think about this noise problem you have. You need to ask your self what changes when turning the wheel to the left and what could and what could not make a noise. Caliper well that would be the frist caliper i ever saw make a noise only when turning. Let me tell you this check your work frist. then look at the problem and think how it all works and you will find your answer.

To me it sounds like a backing plate hitting the rotor

Ok sounds good How would we have did it wrong to have the backing plate be rubbing? Could the bolts be too tight? Or could something be on a bind?
