my jimmy rocks side to side while driving. i have replaced upper and lower ball joints both sides, both shocks, sway bar bushings and both front bearings. what else could be causing this? i have had it since 02 and it didn't do this then, it has 107 thousand miles on it. the replacements helped but it is still doing it though not as violently the repair man was afraid to drive it before the repairs. the shocks are beginning to wear again from the rocking.

My 97 was doing the same thing when I bought it.
Took it a garage and they said I had a worn " part "

They replaced said " part " and the problem went away.

" part " - The mechanic called it a lower control arm , the invoice has it listed
as an idler arm .
One thing is for sure , it cost 35 bucks lol.

On the passenger side ( looking from front to back ) there is a part
that looks something like a pitman arm / tie rod end , about 7 inches long .
Its bolted to the frame ( 2 bolts ) and ties into the linkage behind it .
What ever its called , the mech. said its not uncommon for this part to wear out .

Hope this helps

check all steering parts, ie tie rod ends idler arm, etc for any worn out parts. If you do not want to do this youself the that the truck to an alignment shop and have the check it. then you can replace the parts yourself. just make sure to have an alginment done afterward or you'll end up wearing out tires quicker than normal.
