Hello, I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy that came with a rear hitch and tow haul button for towing. I doesn't have a plug connector on it. I need to install a brake controller and plug connector. I bought the 6-pole connector kit but I don't know what to buy other than the controller. If it came with the tow package shouldn't the wiring already be there? Thank you

Look at your RPO code which is located in your glove box. It's a sticker that will have letters and numbers.

# U89 - Available 1976 to 2005
WIRING HARNESS,5-WIRE TRAILER 5 WIRE TRLR HARN(U89)

# VR2 - Available 1976 to 2020
TRAILER HITCH(STANDARD DEAD WEIGHT) STANDARD HITCH(VR2)

# VR4 - Available 1976 to 2010
TRAILER HITCH(WEIGHT DISTRIBUTING PLATFORM) EQLZR HITCH(VR4)

The wiring harness is most of the time tucked in under the spare tire if it has never been used. Also note that the biggest secret on keeping you transmission running at 100% is to replace the boost valve every time you service the transmission every 45,000 miles, boost valve is only $15.00 and takes no more then 10 extra minute to replace when the transmission oil filter is being replaced. ;) keep me posted if your still having a hard time locating the harness.
