2000 GMC Sierra SLE 5.3
When I put gas in, the fuel handle keeps kicking back. I have to hold the fuel handle on as soft as possible to keep it from kicking back. It takes for ever to fill up.
Anyone know why & a fix?

Any help would be great.
Thanks Mike

I would assume there's a vent hose off the top of the sending unit (Fuel Tank). I would imagine that it's blocked with crud and isn't allowing air to pass through which is why the pressure is backing up at your fill neck causing the pump to go off.

That's the problem, I can not find the vent tube. I was told its beside the filler hose, but its not. There is a tube beside the filler tube but it goes to the read end.

So that being said, does anyone know where that darn vent tube is.

thanks Mike

One of the reasons newer vehicles are harder to fuel than the older (1887 and prior) is that they have an anti shiphon valve built into the filler tube, and no I do not think you can remove it. The only suggestion is to fuel the truck at a slower rate.
