Hi there, I have a 2000 Jimmy with a bit of a problem.

Here are the symptoms:
  • A smell of coolant in the cab
  • No signs of leaking
  • AC is not working

Here is a clue (I hope):
  • The radiator was recently replaced
  • The Heater works fine
  • AC and Heater both worked prior to the radiator replacement

Is there a "bleeding cock" or something? I don't know. Any ideas on what to look for to resolve the Coolant smell and fix this thing?

Thank you

Start with the simple and wash down your engine to ensure you don't have any coolant that is still burning it self out from the radiator replacement.

There is no Bleed cock for your coolant system so your going to have to keep an eye on our coolant reservoir to ensure its topped up to the proper levels.

As for your AC not working, inspect your wire connections to your AC compressor and the AC pressure switch and don't forget to check the fuse and relay.

Good luck and keep us posted:D

Thanks Molson

Okay I'll give all of that a shot.
From poking around I'm finding some folks suggesting the Heater Core may be hooped. I'll go through your list first though and get back to you.
Thanks for the reply!

Hi Molson

Well if it wasn't -10 outside I would have done all the above....
So, I never washed the engine.
I did look around for "puddles" of coolant and nothing at all.
Dry carpets at passenger side.
AC fuses and wiring look good.
At a loss for now...

I'll get back to this thread later, once the weather smartens up....
