2000 savana van brake light issue

My 2000 Savanna van lost the rear brake lights except the center light. I went to pull the lens off and one stud broke off and the other spins and won't come off. Pretty disgusting.
I'm not sure where the lamps are grounded. the whole assembly is made of plastic. I am also wondering if the trailer harness might factor in as that is hanging down and pretty much trashed. Bulbs are fine. I managed to get one out and the tail light works but no brake lights. I have heard that the wiring harness is not protected well in the cargo area but no specifics as to where this problem is located.

I had a similar issue with the brakes. I bought 2 new rear harnesses online for $35.00 each and the problem was solved. It had something to do with the grounds.

Napa Auto Parts should have them as well. Since I got some for my 2001 Savana.
