I recently bought a 2000 gmc savanah for work its been well taken care of. One owner one mechanic with 154838 miles... i replaced the radatior when i bought it and its been fine but the last few eeeks its seems like my gas mileage has been going down. It seems to be sucking down gas. And also in the mornings sometimes its hard to start. Once in a while t ok the point that the battery dies before it starts. That only hapens maybe 1 out of 12 times. I have other questions but theae are the pressing issues right now. If anyone could help it would be great. And if someone could tell me what the gas milage shoukd be ... note: the air filter has been changed and i just put some fuel injectir cleaner through the ststem

I've had my Savana (5.7L, 2500) for 16 years and my experience has been around 15mpg about town and maybe 19 on the highway. Better in the summer and worse in cold weather.

In most cases, your starting problem would be fuel pump related. Mine has a similar problem in that it will rarely start when cold (cold engine and especially in weather). Fuel pressure measures good, but I have my doubts. I have found that a good dose of starting fluid sprayed into the air cleaner inlet will usually get it going. Runs fine after it finally starts. Go figure!
