I have a 2000 sonoma and I can't find the data link connection. I have looked on the bottom of the dash between the steering column and the drivers door . I read some where that trucks with sound panels that it was behind the panel close to the center consolebut it is not there either. I have taken the bottom of the dash off and still can't find it . so Iwas wondering if there is any other place to look or any other way to hook my scanner into the system.? the serice motor soon light came on yesterday .

Here is a picture where the OBDII data link is located on your Sonoma. You can see where my data link cable connects to the data link under the dash by the e-brake peddle. ;)

Good luck and hope this helps. http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/2798/img7ds9.jpg

obd location

First let me thanks for trying to help. I saw the pic and it would have been nice if it were there like it is on my other vehicles. I think I found it over deep behind the ashtray. the connection is a 12 pin connection which i assume (don't really know) is obd1 .My truck is a 2000 and I read some where that on some gmc trucks made after 1996 had obd1 recepticles but were based obd2 software and that a obd1 scanner would not read it. I am sending a couple of pic of the plug and the plug cover and of my truck. with the hopes you or someone can help me figure this out. I have called the dealer ship for info and autozone and they were not able to help me . I hope these pics will enable you to tell me if this is the dianogstic link and what i need to scan it. thanks again for your help.( let me know if you don't get the links I'm new at this)

It is not there . I think I might have found itbut it is not your standard obd2 connection. It is a 12 pin connection which I think is a obd1 (not really sure) I also read some where that after 1996 gmc used some obd1 connections. butobd1 scan tools would not read it because it'based on obd2 software. I'm sending a couple of links to pics of the connection maybe you can tell me if it is and what i need to sdo to scan it. thanks
