Hey all I just notice this past week that my temp guage not going up to normal anymore it usually runs almost 210 which is halfway mostly the mark under halfway is normal for my truck since new. Now its staying like 1 mark past 1/4 and bouncing almost to half then back. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance.

Check coolant level. If the coolant doesn't touch the sending unit, it can't read temp. If level's good, I'd replace sending unit and then thermostat.

Ok I keep it to the max line in the overflow jug and never have to add any just try to change once a year. How much am I looking at to change the sending unit? My truck has almost 190,000 miles on it. I have never had to do anything to it but change the front right hub/bearing assembly. I keep it serviced as it should be. I bought it new. Thanks for the response!!

Changing the sending unit should be a "piece of cake" for you. It's 30 degrees outside now, so tomorrow afternoon I'll locate the sending unit (ya, I'm a sissy) that is unless someone else here knows right where it's at. Do you have the V-6?

As for coolant level; checking the overflow reservoir is not enough. You have to know what's in the radiator. So check radiator level with cold engine.

I have the 5.3L V8. As for the overflow jug I believe that's the only place to fill the radiator on my truck. I think the radiator has no cap but will double check that. Thanks for the help and info.
