2002 gmc sierra 1500 engine swap to diesel? Possible?

I currrently have a 2002 gmc sierra 1500. I was looking into doing an engine swap on it. The old engine isn't bad and neither is the body but just want the feel of a smaller truck with the power and torque of a diesel pick up. Does anyone know if it is possible to pull out my 5.4L and drop in a duramax/cummins/powerstroke into the truck without huge modifications.
