Hey guys Im back... my truck, a 2002 GMC sierra 1500 4wd, 360,000 miles had the AC compressor replaced a year and a half ago... it was so nice having cold air... lasted two weeks, then it quit. i took it back to the mechanic, and he tested the compressor...it's still good, but not getting power. I didnt have thce time to deal with it so i left it alone... went through last summer with now A/C, not doing that again. I have fired that mechanic for other reasons, not going back. Now how do i figure out this AC problem.. i believe it is an elecrical issue as the truck already has some issues like...gas guage doesnt work, but comes on intermittently when I toggle the fresh air select button....also had an issue with the solonoid that controls the heater damper...it finally quit and now I dont get any airflow to the footboard area.... Figured it wasnt worth tearing my dash apart to fix it, but i think all this stuff is linked together.... any ideas? I know the GMC sierra and Suburbans have had issues with some electrical features within the dash area, maybe this is one of them..

i had to replace the fan switch twice on my '98
had no problems with a/c selector switch
the switches are not high quality maybe the switch has gone bad
