I have a 2002 GMC sierra,I have had suspension problems ont hsi truck since i bought it 6 months ago.Just minor but to the point its getting aggravating. It drives good but shakes or vibrates when i hit a bump in the road.I 1st thought it was coming from the front an it partly was so this is what i did:
Front tie rods
Front shocks
Front end alignment
Front tires

It is still doing it ,not horrible but still doing it.So saturday i changed the rear shocks an its still doing it.The truck never ever veers from side to side or pulls, the shaking/vibration seems its coming fromt he rear. The mechanic at michel tires said he feels it in the seat an feels like its coming from the rear.It drives very good even at high speeds til i hit a bump then i get that split second shake fromt he rear.I dont know what else it could be except rear tires ,so her eis my question for any expert:

If it drives straight an doesnt veer or pull an drives great til i hit a bump whats the odds it could be a bent wheel or a bent axle or frame.and would some of those things come to light when i got the front aligned? like a bent frame? i am just over thinking .an if something like a frame or axle was bent what would i do? just go with it? have something replaced? not sure how smart it is to spend thousands on soemthing like that even if it was that.Hopin its just tires

Front suspension shake

I am interested if anyone has any input on this problem too. I have a '07 Sierra 1500 4X4 and I have the same shaking issue on the front. Drives fine, wheel alignment has no issues, tires are fine. Shocks do appear soft or sluggish and will likely replace them shortly, some bounce. Maybe they are causing this?

But when encountering road bumps, small pot holes etc the front end (mostly right side though now starting on the left side) has a shake that is quite annoying. I've had it in the shop and all I get are replies that everything looks good.

Appreciate any thoughts?

Thanks,

JBinNH

I don't have an answer, but I have what i think might be the same problem in my front end, '07 Sierra 1500 4X4. Would love to know if you resolved your issue.

BTW - Just did a few searches on the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration web site and there are a few vehicle complaint submissions there on this topic. I submitted my complaint as well. I was surprised that for all the discussion I have seen on many sights, there were very few complaints submitted.

I would recommend everyone experiencing this also submit their complaint. Not too tough to do, and you can start by searching other complaints, active complaint research, recalls, recall activities, etc...

Here is the site to check: (if it is allowed that I can include it here).

Replace your front and rear sway bar bushing with urethane bushings, you can pick them up at Auto Zone, Napa, or Parts Source. Also bring your tire pressure to the recommended tire pressure posted on your door jam on the driver's side.

Good luck and keep me posted, the only other thing that comes to mind is a worn rear leaf spring bushings and or worn axle bearing.
