My 2002 GMC 2500HD is tearing-up lower control arm bumpers in the front suspension. When sitting, empty, the lower control arm rests on the bumper. Is this normal or does the torsion bars need to be tightened? Currently one of the bumpers is broken and the truck sits about an inch lower on that side.

This is very normal for your truck. I have an 03 and it did the same thing. You can crank up the torsion bars a bit with the stock torsion keys if you want to. You can also get leveling keys and bring the front up a couple inches. Just remember you will need an alignment after no matter what you do.

Jay1, thanks for the reply. I don't remember it sitting down on the bumpers the last time I replaced the bumpers, so I'm thinking it's starting to sag some. I guess I'll go get it raised and aligned before I replace the bumpers. At 100ki miles I thin I need shocks anyway. It's not dampening as much as I'd like when hauling my 5th wheel.

Thanks again.
