2002 YukonXL parking brake

Hello,
I have a 2002 Yukon XL 2500. I use the parking brake a lot, and it has been working great; it is able to hold the truck still when parked on a hill. Recently, when I applied the park brake, I heard a snap near the pedal, and now the pedal travels to the floor much more easily, and the brake doesn't hold the truck as well as it did before.

Any ideas on what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

Well, if you did hear a snap. It is most likely your parking brake cable. Look just to the top and rear of the parking brake pedal. It runs along the frame to the rear brakes. Ending at the parking brakes at the rear wheels. Give it a tug and see if you can pull it out, or if it is not connected.
