money need for school? i am a college kid who works full time and commutes to school i just bought this car two years ago and still owe alot of money on it. it cost 250 for the new part and i do not have that money to buy the part or pay the 1,000 to have it replaced. is there anyway i can bypass it and disconnect it so that i just do not have ac. i will buy a new belt to skipp it but thats the most i can do. please if anyone can give me advice on it i really do need it.

go to a junk yard and buy a compressor off a wrecked car. With hand tools you can replace the frozen compressor with the one from the wrecked car. Then you can drive the car with out A/C but the fan belt will work fine.

I did that to a Sentra.

1 find a good private shop [not dealer] but check with dealer parts dept to see if they have AC bypass kit
2 bypass will cost a few hundred...you may have to find a junkyard envoy that came with no AC,,it is rare..
3 my advice..suck it up get it fixed
4 as a non mechanic your gona pay one way or other..sorry

Before you get all worked up, can you post back and let us know if your A/C clutch is making noise or the bearing??? Post back, and if it's not your bearing, that's good news. ;)
