I have an 03 Sierra and the check engine light is on, it has a transmission klunk when the truck starts out and won't shift while driving, also speedometer seems to catch when slowing or quick acceleration, could these issues be related and where should I start looking for solutions? Transmission flush?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

NO Transmission flush unless your looking to replace your transmission within a year. Start with checking your VVS (Vehicle Velocity Sensor) and wire harness, its located on the transmission cone on the drivers side. Simple fix if it is the VVS sensor, if you think your not going to be able to do the job.

Have a transmission shop replace it and service the transmission since your paying for the labor already. They can scan your Sierra also to confirm that it is your VVS that has gone bad.

Good luck and keep us posted. ;)

Went and had the check engine light scanned at our local parts store, it turned up as a transmission solenoid. Is it costly to have these replaced, or could I try to do it myself?

So, I went and replaced the transmission solenoids, refilled the fluid, put everything back together, and test drove it. Doesn't seem to have changed anything. Do I need to reset the computer to recognize the new solenoids? Or is there something else I need to check?
