I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 4.8L 4x4 with 220,000 KMs on it and had it had a sudden drop oil pressure on me about 9 months ago and it sat in the garage until today. Pulled off the timing chain cover and replaced the oil pump, timing chain and gears. Ran the truck in the lane for 15 min. after all the gears had been pre-oiled and primed and the truck ran great, oil preasure came right up to 275 KPA, engine sounded good so we took it for a rip. 7 kms into the run the oil preasure started to drop slowly and after 10 kms there was nothing. I shut the truck off right away and there it sits. The old pump had the pressure relief valve stuck open and allowed the oil to by pass. While we had the cover off we noticed a large, heavy buildup of sludge all through the engine and tried to figure out what caused it. baught the truck in 2007 used, did regular oil changes every 5000 KMs, I have ran Castrol, Pennzoil, and Quaker State 5W-30 or 10W-30 through it since I've had it and switched from Synthetic to standard oil after the first year I had it. I need to get this TAR/SLUDGE out of my engine without tearing it apart and would love to hear some PROVEN good ideas. More fequant oil changes are definitely going to happen but I need to get the TAR/SLUDGE out of the engine first or else it will just plug up again. NEED THE TAR OUT !!!!!!. PLEASE HELP!!!!
