I'm getting a DEXCOOL smell in the truck, fogged up window etc, all the classic signs of a blown heater core. No wetness that I can feel inside at the rugs. I've looked at a couple or You-Tubes about the replacement. Is it really all that much work!! Is there any short cut for doing this job. I can't believe you have to take the whold dash off just to do a heater core. I'm hoping there's a better way since I just do not have the time to do this myself. Might be time to sell this thing, hope not.
Thanks

yack! Yeah, I'm sure I could do this but seriously, this much work just for a heater core? For the first time in many many years, I am going to let someone else do a job for me. I'm figuring about $750.00 and there's a good indy near me. At least I'll be supporting a local small business. I also own an older Volvo that blew its core. Seriously, working slow and careful it took less than 2 hours to replace and that was the first time I ever did it. Under an hour second time around. 2003 Sonoma w/ZR2 option and just 106k I haven't spent much on it at all so this doesn't really hurt all that much. My fear was to get half way through and having something come up, work, family, weather and getting jammed up.
Thanks for the replys. Next time I'll do it :-)
