I think the truck idles at 20, but when it is in any gear (5 speed 4 cylinder model), the oil pressure stays at 70. I was wondering if that is high and what causes it. Oil used in it is 5w-30 oil.

Oil pressure sensor starting to go bad, there not that expensive and simple to change.

The oil sensor is fairly common to go bad. The internal resistance wears out, and will give false low readings as a result at idle. The Oil Pressure Sender is cheap and easy to replace as i mentioned.

It's located on the passenger's side, rear of the engine, and you will need a special tool - Oil Pressure Sender Socket. You can usually rent this tool (or buy it cheap enough) at any local parts store like Auto Zone.

Good luck and keep us posted;)
