2004 GMC Canyon 4wd problem?

My Canyon was fine until i changed the battery. When I hooked up the new battery, service 4wd lights up in dash and it will not go into 4wd anymore, my lights were the 4wd buttons do not burn anymore. I just do not know if something happened to the computer or if it is just that i need to indeed service 4wd which i had done about 3 months ago. Is there a way that i can service it myself and reset computer or am i in trouble?

Your 4WD actuator switch may have gone bad. I would take it into your dealer or other repair shop and have them look into it. Maybe it just needs reset since you installed the battery.

your best bet is to disconnect the battery for 30 to 40 secs to try an reset the computer if this fails then yes the 4wd may be in trouble its a canyon so im guessing that its a shift ona Fly electronic 4wd the acuator moter may be bad or a fuse mite have blown i hope i was a good help

try disconnecting the battery again from the neg for about 30-40 seconds then if that dont work then try this: start it, put it in reverse and while slowly backing up and put it in four wheel see if it enguages. if it dont then you have a problem with the electrical some where and you should take it in.
