2004 Gmc Envoy Front Differential replaced but caused more problems?

I had my Front Differential replaced and the people who "fixed" my truck poked a hole in the oil pan. Also feel grinding and was told it was the hub assembly. Is this something that was also messed up when the front differential was replaced? all this happened within a month after being in the shop

First of all, what did you do to need a front differential? Anyways, the hub assembly is the front wheel bearing, bolts onto the steering knuckle and the axleshaft splines inside of it. This part was seperated from the axles in order to remove the differential, but is very unlikely that it was damaged in the process. Wheel bearings wear out, just a coincidence that it went after the repair. If the shop was responsible for a hole in the oil pan, then they should replace it.

The wheel hub going bad could have been the result of faulty workmen ship, For then to remove the front pumpkin (differential) they would have to remove the axle and they would have to remove the wheel hub to remove the CV joints. If they hammered the wheel hub off, rather then use a wheel hub puller. Then yes your going to run in to wheel hub problems since the wheel hub bearings aren't made to take hits on the side and if they did remove the other side in the same manner, your going to have another wheel hub go bad with in 5 months if not less if you do lots of high way drive.

As for then to poke a hole in your oil pan, i can see that they don't go by the Manuel on how too's and would be worried if they torqued all the nuts and bolts to manufacturer's recommendation and have adjusted the differential properly to ensure that it will not wear it self out by not having the proper clearance between the ring gears.

Good luck and have the front differential fluid replaced after 3 months and have the oil analyzed for proper gear wear indicated by the amount of metal in the fluid.
