Hi all, I'm new here and I did a search but could not find anything on our problem. We just purchased a 2004 gmc 3500 with a dump bed on it. At some point the rear fuel tank was removed and the frame cut down for the dump bed. Now the fuel gauge reads empty all of the time. :( We have found where the old rear fuel tank electrical connections were. They are just cut off and sealed.

Is there any way to get the fuel gauge to read correctly without the rear tank sending unit?

We got this figured out at our local G.M. dealer. Dealer had to reprogram the trucks computer to compensate for the removal of the rear tank.
