My 05 Canyon SLE has just over 88k on it. Brakes started acting up about 2k ago. If it sits for quite awhile (more than 4-5 hours) brakes will squeal and grab lightly for about the first couple of minutes. If it has set overnight or it's rainy out they grab badly and tend to lock up. Throws me forward against seat belt restraints and skids the front tires at times. Only the fronts, not the rears. Put new rotors and pads on. Problem diminished for a couple of days and now back full force. If I drive away slowly with very light pressure dragging my brakes the effect is a lot less. No problems when backing up when starting, just going forward. And the front brakes seem locked after sitting overnight. Any suggestions? Seems related to building up heat or the calipers warming up but .... .....

Thanks in advance.

Brakes

Sounds like brakes with air in system.Could be a problem with ABS too.Best is to drain all old brakefluid out of system after a few years of use.It atracts moisture.Good luck, hope its not a spendy fix.

Brake problems

I have had my Canyon for several years and ever since I changed the rear brakes it has done that I checked with my local Chevy dealer and they said that if yopu put GM brakes back on it it would not do that but if you put any other brand they will squeak and grab slightly. Mine has 140k miles on it and has done it for years it dosen't hurt anything you should be ok.
