I have a 2006 Z71 and am experiencing a "rattle" in the front end that transfers to the steering wheel, I notice it most at slow speeds, like backing out of the driveway... I recall something similar in an older truck I owned, it was a (1990) it ended up being the pitman arm, My truck has 62k and is a street Z71, (very little off roading) The steering seems tight, I see no play in the steering linkage upon visual inspection. Anyone have any suggestions in a cause?? Or better yet a FIX!!!!!
2006 GMC Sierra XLT with Bose/tow/off-road package. I thought it would be a nice truck. 70000 miles later they told me my steering is worn out and to keep an eye on it. ??!! I was Pissed. I told them back in August to check EVERYTHING out since the warranty was going to expire due to time, not miles. The steering stabilizer system I think he said needs replacing. I crawled under there to see for myself. They were supposed to keep this thing in top shape. Apparently they overlooked this. I can't believe it's messed up already. I'm glad I didn't go four wheelin' with it. It probably would have fallen apart. My 4x4 was for snow in the Sierras, not for boonie crashing. They over engineered it so it works great when it's new, but wears out rapidly from what I can see. I'm going to get this fixed and the rear seal on the tranny that they pointed out this last visit and SELL THIS MONEY PIT. I already replaced the back springs since it was sagging and sounding like an old jalopy. This is a tinfoil car that was made to look like a truck. I'm going old school and restoring a truck from the past where I know it has good metal in it.
