I found a 2007 Sierra 2500, turbo diesel, crew cab, 4x4, and the seller is only asking $7000 for it. Not sure how many miles it has on it yet, I am trying to get more info from the seller as to the rest of its options.

The price seems too good to be true for this type of vehicle, just from what I can see already here...is it?

found out the vehicle has 84000 miles on it. The ad is posted in places all over the state of Illinois, it seems. Scam?

You are right to be suspicious. If it sounds to good to be true, chances are it is. It should sell for somewhere between 25,000 to 35,000. It might be a total wreck that was repaired.

Mileage is a little high but 15,000 per year is considered typical.

I got the Carfax from the owner and the title is clear, no reported accidents or anything like that. This is what the owner said to me in an email:

The truck is in excellent working order, it has a clear and free title and I'm the second owner, I bought this truck in june 2011. The truck was garage kept, has no mechanical problems and it is in perfect condition. Description: Year:2007, Make: GMC, Model: Sierra 2500 HD, Transmission: Automatic, Exterior color: Blue, Interior color: Gray, Cold Air Conditioning, 83,265 miles, it has PS, PB's. ENGINE, DURAMAX 6.6L TURBO DIESEL V8, 4 Wheel drive, CD player, Driver airbag, Anti-lock brakes, Passenger airbag, Power locks, Power windows, Cruise control, Power seats . I uploaded the pics here: https://picasaweb.google.com/117748638052424307143/GMCSierra# the truck in the pictures is the one I'm selling you and that's the truck's condition right now. I have driven this truck almost daily for the last couple of months and it has been 100% dependable.

In another email he said he would ship the vehicle for free for the first 500 miles (he's in Virginia, I'm in Illinois), and that he would be in the hospital receiving chemotherapy for the next few weeks. He said he wanted to be paid using Google Finance, and that I would only have to pay him if I decided I liked the vehicle.

I'm still suspicious, even with all of this new information. $7000 is cheap for any type of diesel around here, let alone an 07.

I heard that this a common type of scam. Selling a vehicle dirt cheap, offering free shipping etc. The chances this is an honest sale are slim to none in my opinion. Why would some sell a truck worth upwards of $25,000 for only $7,000. Could it be it has a lien on it, does it really exist? Any car dealer would pay him $7,000 in an instant so why does he sell it on the internet, especially if he is sick? How is it he happens to know how to ship it and the first 500 miles are free?

You temped to buy then go there and do it in person. If he makes up excuse for why he cannot met you and close the deal, you know is a con. He wants someone from you, a down payment, a credit card number or some other personal information he can use to drain your bank account. He might just be out to get a few hundred bucks from, BUYER BEWARE...

What shipper is going to agree to that?

If you send him any money, be is a $1 or $7,000 I bet you that you will never see the truck or hear from him again. With the way the internet is they person could be in Russia or the favorite country for scams, Angola.
