I have a 2010 Canyon 5.3L 4wd with 410 differential, so the mileage leaves a lot to be desired. I don't street race it or take it to the woods to pull stumps very often, so would like to find a way to improve the MPG. Does anyone have experience with replacing the front and rear ring and pinion to something in the 308 or 373 range. I would like to go to 308 unless somebody yells NO WAY! Thanks!

Changing the ratios would be a bit of an expensive proposition especially if a dealer were to do the work. Also a 3:08 is going to take a lot of soup out compared to the 4:11, if you are serious I would look in the 3:42 to 3:55 range which would give better mileage while retaining good performance.

With a 4WD, you are talking about changing the front and rear diff ratios. I have 3.08's in my full size. It is horrible on acceleration. but makes up at speed. It is a compromise.

410 gear is up there....You need to talk to a gear guy because I don't think you will be able to use a 308 gear in your 410 carrier????you might be able to get a 355 in it....I have been away from all of that for to long to be of sure help....I had a camaro back in the day it had 273's i wanted to go with 373 and was told it would not work in my carrier....You may save by finding a wrecked 4 wheeler with the gears of your liking...Hope this helps come,Good Luck!!
