I have a 2010 Sierra (5.3L) and last weekend I noticed that the wipers were running very slow. Then on Monday night, I tried to start the car and when I turned the key, all of the lights came on, the radio but the starter never kicked in ... not even clicking noises. It had just started raining and I thought I was gonna be in trouble. I put the car in drive and then shoved the PRIDL back into PARK in case that we the issue. I then tried to start it again and again nothing. On the third attempt the truck started. The following day the truck started and got me to work in the morning but on the way home I stopped at the Post Office, shut the truck off and went inside for a couple of minutes. When I came out it had started raining again and when I tried to start the truck ... everything worked again but the starter wouldn't engage. battery was fully charged, the check engine light was not on. I waited 2 hours and it still won't start so I had it towed to the dealership. Next morning it started right up. I'm so frustrated and afraid to drive it anymore. I have 2 young sons and now it's almost winter. Getting stranded with them really scares me. Anyone else ever have this problem?

What is the history of truck?...mileage...do you use it for 4 wheel drive?...has it been wrecked or in any accidents?..etc

Hey,

new to the forum

I seemed to have the same problem as you just listed...

I had a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 in august with approx 37,000 on it it began to have Key starting and remote starting issues. I started inquiring on the internet and had many replys and senario fixes..

a few Voltage drop senarios saying that the Voltage drop caused the security system to cause a issue with the remote and Key starting.. so i followed a GM techs "re-Learn" of the remote start..

I was also told To turn and hold the head light switch to the off position before i turned the key it actually worked but only for a few more weeks..why I have no Idea?

a few weeks later the truck just stalled and took 20 min before it would start.. So next day I drove it to a GMC Dealership now the Truck had 47,000 on it.

took the dealer 2 days to find the issue and they warrentee it "no Charge"

Seems there is a " Bus Bar" some kind of electrical connection located under the Fuse box (under the hood) that is not sealed very well from the factory...and it was so badly corroided it was causeing intermitted "Key and Remote starting" issues.

IMO.... "GO TO THE DEALER" shouldnt cost you a dime!

I left the service department straight to the Showroom and Bought a Brand New 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 almost exactly the same as my 2010 but with a Odd "Leather Interior" SLE package.

seeing how my work place is a Mon-Fri 200 mile round trip a day.. it made sence to trade the truck for a brand new GMC w/ extended warrentee

thanks for your time... hope this helps

The truck again wouldn't start and this time when I had it towed into the dealership they looked at it immediately. Sure enough the starter was bad. They replaced it and I have had no more issues. It's been almost 3 weeks now.
