I took my 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 in because it was clunking, shifting weird, etc. that has been well documented, but recieved a call that 2 motor mounts are broken. Truck has 25k and never been offroad or abused. Only tow a lite boat, so no major towing. Nothing I can think of broke the mounts except possibly the hard downshifts when coming to a stop. It literally lunges the truck forward.

I did a search and haven't seen any other post regarding this. Has anyone else experienced this? What could possibly cause motor mounts to break this early?

Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

AATA,
We're sorry that you're experiencing these troubles with the motor mounts on your Sierra. Is everything going well while working with your dealership?

Just following up to see if anyone else has had this problem. The dealer replaced them and it felt good for a while, but feels like they're broken again. It's going in next week, but just curious if I'm the only one with this issue. The truck is just a normal road truck. No towing, off-road, etc.

Plus it clunks like crazy. Really disappointed with this truck.

Thanks for any responses!

GM Service - I appreciate the response, but as you would expect, no I'm not happy with the service. They pretend like none of these trucks have clunks, but I showed him postings all over the internet. Simply a joke! Not sure what else needs to be said.

I wish. I took it in again a couple thousand miles ago because it still clunks and shifts horrible. They of course found nothing and it didn't do it in the few miles driving around the shop. This time I'm going to take it to another shop and before letting them work on it, take them for a test drive. It always seems to shift good for a few days after they work on it, which is odd. Almost like they reset it and then it starts to get worse and worse over time.

Over the last week or so it feels like the motor mounts may be broken again. I'll try to update this, but any tips of similar experience on this would be great appreciated. The dealer acts like they've never seen an issue with these trans, but yet there's tons of info all over the internet. They keep telling me it was in the 09 and 10 years, but was fixed in the 2011 model (which mine is).

thanks!

I recently had to have the left motor mount on my 2010 sierra 1500 2WD denali replaced. The truck had 47K miles and was repaired under the powertrain warrany at no cost.

You might want to check with GMC directly rather than the dealership since they seem to be giving you the run around. If you seem to be the needle in the hay stack, it has to be a factory defect. Also, if they cannot help you out, you might have to result in going to a local shop and ask them.
