I have a 2011 GMS Sierra 1500 purchased 12/5/11. It has approx 3100 miles on it today. I have approx 50 paint chips to the lower body that are showing bare metal. I feel the aggressive tires that were put on this vehicle is causing the damage to it. The tires constantly are holding stones. Splash guards were put on the vehicle a couple days after purchased. I have been to the dealership and at first they agreed to paint it, but when I asked for new tires to help fix the problem they said absolutely not and will do nothing for me at this time. The GM paint rep was rude and sarcastic, blamed it on how I drive, and where I drove. I felt if they paint it without fixing the problem that is causing it, then its only going to chip again. You see this isn't my first new vehicle from GM. We have owned three new vehicles from GM over the last 9 years. We use our trucks as trucks and have never had any problem with paint chiping. This is very heartbreaking that GM doesn't want to fix the problem when my family has been very loyal customers. So tell me GM would you like to drive around in a new vehicle with only 3100 miles on it and be a satisfied customer?

Find a way to prove that it's the tires and i bet you they will work with you. If you can't prove it, then they don't really have to do anything. I'm sorry to say.

Well when your out and about today at a parking lot full of cars look at their tires and tell me how many of them are holding stones? My tires are constantly holding stones between the treads.

I have Bridgestone Dueler A/T on my 2010 GMC Sierra E. Cab Z71 All Terrain Pkg. From what I seen these are the most aggressive tires they put on the GM 1500 trucks. I just looked (first time washed in weeks) over my 23,000 miles truck driven on winter road with sand and salt used daily. I cannot find any road chips in my paint. You sure this was not like this when you bought it and might have occured in transport?

PS-I often drive on gravel roads but I don't drive very fast to protect the truck from the abuse that can occur.

Just a thought, do you have anyone else in the family that drives your truck? Like a teenager who might have driven it down a gravel road very fast? I say that only because a friend complained to the tire dealer about his rear tires wearing out and one day his kid got a reckless driving ticket. The police observered him and some others doing reverse burn outs on a local hill. Thats where you coast backwards in nuetral and then drop it in drive and smoke the tires. That explained why his tires had abnormal wear. Before that happened he would have punched you in the face if you suggested his kid was burning up his tires.

I see it all the time and those cars/trucks don't have any issues with the paint. Hell mine holds them all the time to and I don't have any issues. All I'm saying is what the dealer/GM will say. If you can't prove it, then they really can't do anything about it. No need to get chippy.

I'm terribly sorry to hear about these paint issues jheichelbech. Could you message me the dealer you're working with? I'd like to see if I can help with this.

Thanks for the replys. We bought our GMC from Joyce Buick of Mansfield. The GM rep has looked at our truck and said basically its my fault. I have driven on the same roads for the past 15 years and never had a problem with my other vehicles chipping. We bought a nicer truck because our teenagers are out of the household and its only me and my husband driving. I have only driven the vehicle locally. I haven't even put a hitch in it yet to pull my gooseneck. My son details at a local dearlership and said he has never seen vehicles with this much chipping. Sorry if you can't relate to spending your hard earned money of something that is not going to last. I personally will not buy another GM vehicle because of the quality and the customer service we have received.

+ 1 there Feel the same when my motor went and they remaned it(5k on it) instead of replacing it with a new one.
