I recently purchased a certified used 2011 Sierra Denali 1500 with the 6.2L. After driving it for the past few weeks, I have noticed that sometimes it feels like it bogs down a little in mid gears (around 40-45 mph), typically when I am coasting at a steady clip but then give her a little gas to maintain speed on an incline. Eventually, if I press down on the gas enough, she'll pick up to the next gear and accelerate out of it. But it almost feels like she doesn't like to go 40-45 mph - she's happy and purrs at lower speeds and at higher speeds, and of course, she loves to accelerate in general. My previous truck was a 2004 Chevy Silverado with 5.3L and I never experienced this. Any ideas on whether this is normal? Is this a characteristic of the 6.2L or is this something I need to return and have looked at?

my '2011 5.3 feels like that some time but it is when it is running four cylinders
its the fuel management system
if you have the drivers info system on the dash set it to show 8v that is normal
when you fell the bog look is it in 4v?

Interesting thought. I'll have to crack open the user manual to see if I can see how to get that status on the dash read-out. I've played around with it (without using the manual of course) but don't remember seeing that as a display option. If it is because it's down to 4 cylinders at the time and kicks back to 8 when I finally give her enough gas, I'm assuming it's something I'll have to live with and can't be "tuned"?

I don't think you can over ride FMS I don't think performance chips will allow it either

Hello mhugger,

Congratulations on your recent purchase of your Sierra! I apologize that you are experiencing this concern with your vehicle feeling like it is bogging down in the mid gears. Are you planning on taking it into a GMC dealership to see if this is normal operation of the vehicle? If you would like any assistance in setting up an appointment or working with the dealership, please feel free to private message me with your name, contact info, VIN, mileage, and dealership you would like to work with. I hope to hear from you soon.

Are you in Lockup?

Are you sure that it is not just that the tranny has entered lockup (mine does this at ~40-45) and you are needing to press the accelerator enough to overcome this?
