I have a 2012 GMC 2500HD with 6.0 Gas 6 speed transmission. I purchased this truck to pull my boat and future travel trailer. Took the truck on vacation into the mountains in Mo. Going down the hills the transmission would hold the truck from over speed then would release and engine went to idle and the truck took off increasing the speed down the mountain. Going up the mountains the poor truck was laboring so bad trying to compensate the loss of speed it had to shift down three times to finally maintain the speed.

If I would have had my trailer on the trip the truck probably would not have made it up the hills. Put the truck in the shop back home and of course they could not find any problems. Hook the trailer up and pulled it thru Houston Texas on flat ground the truck was constently shifting up and down. Even with our mountains (Overpasses) it had to up shift to maintain the speed. On flat ground it was shifting up and down. This truck has absolutely no power to pull any type of a load.

I would like any feed back from anyone that may have this same issue. I have called GM and I am not getting much assistance there. I even have this on video where it is constantley shifting.

Thanks

I have the same truck and do not have the same problems, something doesn't seem right with your truck. I live in Alaska and pull my trailer through the mountains every time I use it and haven't noticed the erratic shifting that my old 4 speed did. Are you using your truck with the tow/haul button engaged when going up and down the hills?

Did you change the tires by chance? If you went with bigger tires that could a problem.

I have already contacted GM and they are supposebly working on it. it has 16000 miles on it. I dont have the VIN on hand and the dealer is Weisner in Texas

No Power for the 2500 HD

I have not made any changes to the truck it is all original. I have pulled the trailer with and without the tow haul button and it does the same. The only difference is the tow haul holds it into gears longer and does away with overdrive.

My future is pulling a fifth wheel travel trailer and seeing the northern country. With our great mountains here in south Texas (Overpasses) and it is pulling like it is then I cant wait to see what it will do in the rockie, smokey mountains.I have already experience the Ozark without a trailer

I had a 2006 yukon 2500 with the 6.0 and not the 6speed trany and it was great I own all gmc trucks and the 2012 yukon is the only one with the 6speed. I really cant stand this truck. I brought it to the dealer and they just look at me like im nuts??????

2012 2500HD no power

Well guys all I can say is GM is not owning to all the advertisement that is posted as to how powerful there trucks are. As you can read from the past about no having power ell all I can say is dont buy GM.

The wife has the attorneys working on it and sending letters now so we will see what is going to happen.

I will keep you all posted as to which direction this goes. I call GM and they will not even call you back. So dont waste you time trying to talk with them. If you do get hold of them they will tell you that the service department is there eyes and ears so call your dealer. Call the dealer and they dont call you back either.

What does that tell you?????
