Hey all , my first post and not quite a GMC guy yet. I'll pick it up in the am. I owned all Chevys to date. It is a 2014 GMC 3500 HD. 4x4 with the 6.0 , six speed auto and DRW. I will build a bed for it at about 1,000 lb . What should I expect for fuel mileage on the highway. Assuming no extra load. It has to be better than my 03 with the 8.1.
Thank for any input on this , tbconcrete

Also has 4.10 gears

The answer seems to be about 13.8 MPG. Very happy with these results as the '03 with the 8.1 gets less than 10 MPG.
Happier than I thought I would be with the truck

??? My 2002 8.1 2500HD gets 14 mpg on the road. This doesn't sound any better.

fuel usage

You guys are doing well. My 2013 6.0 3500 with dump body and DRW is lucky to get 10 MPG. Absolutely awful and unacceptable in my opinion! Hell, my 2011 GMC 2500 6.0 utility body only gets 11-12 MPG. Both in based on mainly city driving, but still terrible!

The 6.0 is a Gas Hog, my 2013 2500HD gets about 12 as a daily driver and 8/9 towing my 6000# camper trl. and it has the 3.73 gear

Im down to about 11 mpg. I don't like the mileage with the 8.1 in my 03. I think around 8 mpg. But that engine will carry a load. And carry it well. And does it every day. Hauling foundation forms. The 6.0 is like its little brother. Not as strong, but eats less.
