2014 remote start

I just purchased a 2014 1500 SLE and the only thing I wish it had is remote start! I had heard that all GM trucks are prewired for remote start and all one has to do is go to the dealer pay for two new 'keys' and programing, is this still true for the 2014s???

Having just bought a 2014 GMC 3500HD WT . I asked the dealer about it and he mentioned he could not get that done and it would have to be after market. So I guess the question above asks if all were prewired for remote starters.
Is that correct Laura M.

I read on here where all 2014 GMC vehicles already have remote start. It is just a matter of getting a code which is about $25. I just bought a 2014 GMC Sierra. I asked in the parts department and was told they could do it. But it would be $400 That is a big difference between $25. So what is the truth ?
 
I HAVE A 2013 SIERRA WITH REMOTE START, IT ONLY RUNS ABOUT 3 TO 4 MINUTES . Can i adjust this to run longer ???
 
Based upon your VIN, your vehicle does not even have a keyless entry transmitter. GM does not offer a keyless entry remote start for this vehicle.

You can check with an aftermarket vendor.
 
1. What does the remote start on a GMC Sierra SLT 1500 start besides the engine? Windshield defroster, seat heater? Mine seems to just start the engine, seats and the heater.
2. Can the items started be changed with programming?
3. Will the remote start bring on the AC in the summer instead of the heater?
4. My old 2007 Sierra SLT fired up the defroster in cold weather and the AC in warm weather.
 
Remote start activation

I found in the manual about what comes on but it's not clear as to leaving the desired device switched on when I shut down or if it will select and turn on itself the device when remotely started.

What I want is the front windshield defroster and the heated seats to come on.
