2020 Sierra 1500 travel trailer towing with Duramax or Gas engine?

Looking for a 1500 SLT to tow 7,500 lb travel trailer. Does anyone have experience? I’m not sure which Engine is best. I have read GMC capacity rates, but expect there may me more to it than that. Real life experience would be helpful.
 
If it were me, I'd be getting a diesel, especially if there are any significant grades where you will be towing. As a side note, consider swapping the stock transmission cooler for one by PPE products....much more capacity than the factory one. I've ridden with a friend towing a trailer with a Silverado 1500 (gas engine) , and it definitely labors a bit on steep grades.
