I love my new 2024 Sierra 1500 SLT, but hate the reverse and fog lights. They are both pitiful.
Upgrading lights has been impossible with these new LEDs and complicated sensitive computer circuits.
Even adding some type of external reverse lights tapped into the 7 pin trailer connector is said to be a no-no. Doing so will trick your truck into thinking there's a trailer connected, according to my research.
I wouldn't even think about attempting to tap into the tail light reverse lights. Who know what that would do!
Even running a completely new circuit from the battery and using a rely to switch the lights with the reverse light switch leg would be questionable. Would the truck sense that too? I'm guessing yes. Maybe a manual switch would be the only way?
If anyone has a solution, let me know.
In the meantime, I'll try to avoid backing up at night! Geeze, $68,000 and I can't back up at night!
I do have those sensors that will vibrate my seat if I get close to something, but I don't feel confident relying on those when I can barely see through my backup camera at night.
