repair shop wants $500 to do it, i'm going to do it myself. is there anything out of the ordinary i need to be cautious of? i do have mechanical ability, just haven't worked on anything this new.

well asking how hard a job is is a very hard thing to answer!
What easy for me to do may be very hard for you to do. I don't know what you know how to do and don't know what you have for tools.
so i NEVER tell someone how to do something unless i read your post and think you have a clue of what your doing. now i not saying you don't know what you doing but you did not give me any clues in your posts. Sorry but nice job doing it your self it's not a job that just anyone could do!

OK .. this is down the road a bit but.. what were the conditions that caused you to need an intake gasket? I have seen the 6's need this .. but not the 8 ? Just looking to understand the diagnostics. Thanks PS.
