When I start it, it stays around 12psi, remains even when I stop a few times. After it warms up it'll drop to 0 at low rpms. I don't know much about this truck..where is the pump, does it have sending unit, is there a way to find out if it's internal..bearing? Help GMC Expert guys..I would appreciate your ideas..thanks.

Being a 1979 350, good chance that is going to be a bad oil sending unit. Itls located at the back of the engine next to the Distributor on the drivers side. Just make sure you get the right sending unit.

One type is for a electric gauge and the other is for a warning light on the dash. Start with that you make want to also give it a http://www.seafoamsales.com/ treatment before your next oil change.

If you had no oil pressure, you would have more then issues that the gauge reading 0. Good luck and keep us posted.:D
