Good evening fellow GMC owners, I have a bit of a problem. I live in New England and my plow truck is broke in the middle of winter not good. I have a 1984 High Sierra with a 350 engine with 350 transmission. I can only get the transfer case to move 2 selections on the case itself. I then thought it may have been transmission cause the column shift is very loose and I can select gears locally at the transmission with ease very little resistance. I just dropped the trans pan in freezing temps and the fluid looked brand new as did the bottom of the valve body. No metal debris or anything in the pan but fluid. I was really hoping to see a broke linkage or something obvious cause now I am out of suggestions. Do I now drop the valve body and if so how many of the bolts have to be removed to get it down and what am I looking for when I get it down. Sorry this is so drawn out but running out of options.
