I have a 89 GMC Sierra with the 5.7 350l V8 that won't start. I've checked the fuel pressure but I don't know what the correct pressure should be. Does anyone know or know where I can find out?

9-13 psi with the engine running, measured with a gauge spliced in just before the throttle body.

TBI? not less than 9psi.

It will run at that pressure, but you won't be able to pull a trailer or pass anyone on the freeway.

Spray some carburetor, or starting fluid into the intake.
Crank it over.
If it starts and dies, you have a fuel delivery problem.
If it does NOT start, you have an ignition problem.

GM (chevy) uses an oil pressure sensor that turn off the fuel pump if there is no oil pressure. Check the basics first. Got Oil?

if it has an electric fuel pump and injectors it should be 45 to 50 pounds of pressure if it has a carbeurator it should be between 4 and 6 pounds of pressure good luck gerald
