91 Sonoma Trans or Electrical issue?

Hi All,

I have a 19 Sonoma 2WD SLE with the 4.3 and auto trans. We now have 168K miles. Recently the trans started having an intermittent surge type effect while driving in overdrive at various speeds. Near the same time the speedo is intermittently wacky too, at times it jumps up and down at nowhere near actual speed and at times it appears fine. Fluid levels are correct and clean. Could this be some sort of module or TPS? what is the best route for diagnostics?
