91 Z71 Engine

I am in limbo land right now. I have 91 z71 w/ 350K mile. I let the truck sat up for about a 1 year. I would periodically start it up to make a block with it. Since the battery went dead it will not start. The truck has given some good service. It had a puff of blue smoke when I would start it up to run. I don't know whether I should buy a new motor or should i rebuild the orginal. What do you all think? For reasons can anybody give me a price on a new motor also.

Puff and blue smoke is most likely the valve guilds being worn when you first start it. If you get constant blue smoke after the engine is warmed up when accelerating, then your engine is tired and will need to be rebuilt.

You can look up the price for a GM create engine at your local GM dealer, or you can find a local engine builder to where you live and see what they will charge and my be rebuild your engine with more HP and TQ other then the stock 5.7 liter specs.
