I have a 1992 Sierra Extended Cab 4X4 with power door locks and I want to add an aftermarket keyless entry system. My question is to anyone who would know where a good spot is to access the wire harness to get to the door lock/door unlock wires without opening up the door panels.

Behind the kicker panel where the door wire harness connects to the cabin harness. Here is a link that should be able to help you and #11 is the power door lock connector your looking for to use.

Good luck and keep us posted. ;)

Helpful T-Connector

Once I was able to see the wiring diagram I did a little more research and found that Bulldog has an available T-connector to insert into the wire harness at the kick panel connection location. So with that it is a basic plug and play solution. Thank you for the link to the wiring diagrams. Big Help

Update

Turns out that the Bulldog T harness does not address the power door lock circuits so the door panel had to come off. It was not too much of an issue and it allowed me to tighten up a few things inside the door and to change out a cracked and weathered exterior window sweep. The bulldog keyless entry module works very well in this application and seems as good as a factory system.

I myself am looking to add an aftermarket keyless entry/auto start. Would you be able to tell me about how long it took you to wire yours and if you ran into any unusual or annoying problems?

thanks

Adding keyless entry module

About the biggest problem I ran into was just getting to the wire harness. In the end I took of the driver side door panel off and accessed the wire harness there. Bulldog had very good instructions for getting the correct wires and such. I ordered a bag of 25 door panel fasteners (like $5) on-line becasue you will need to replaace those as you pop off the door panel. I did not do the remote start option but did wire in the parking lamp flash on lock and unlock. It took a few hours total but was well worth it. I would also get some good butt splice connectors and a couple of rolls of 16 AWG auto wire in different colors at one of your local auto parts stores. I don't think the whole thing cost me more that $50.

Why don't you try Amazon or autopartswarehouse.com, if you purchase it from a local dealer then he might fix and give for free of cost.

Factory Keyless entry '92 GMC Sierra

I have a 92 GMC Sierra, it has electric dorr locks but not keyless entry. I have access to several GMC/Chevy trucks of the same model. Can anyone tell me where to keyless module is located and if it is plug and play into a truck with electrick locks?

Thanks!
