I had a similar problem with my 95 Sierra. By fluke I discovered that it was the coil wire causing the problem. I believe that there is a safety switch that won't allow fuel through the injectors if there is no spark. Also a friends truck had a similar issue caused by the cap and rotor. So your best bet would be to check through the ignition system first.
