I have been having a problem with the high speed setting on my blower recently. Recently the high speed setting on the blower just doesn't work. When checking the relay out it worked for a minute and then I put the relay back on and it stopped again. The dash switch is pulling in the relay for the high speed and I am getting voltage out of the purple wire but the problem is that I can't seem to find where that purple wire goes to past the relay to check where the loose connection is. I can see that it goes inside the wire loom past the left of the blower compartment (or at least that's what it looks like, it's a tight space in there) but after that I don't know. Any help of finding where the purple wire leads to would help.

Thanks, Dave

Try replacing the relay first or swapping it out with another one for now and see if that fixes the problem. The purple wire goes to the electric motor it self and will run the full 12 Volts to the blower motor to make it run on high. There is a relay that controls the high speed and a resistor module that controls the lower speeds, both of them are under the hood. The resistor module bolts onto the top of the heater core box near the distributor and I think that the relay is near there as well. The other common thing to go bad is the ground wire to the blower motor (the ground wire plug). It may be completely melted where the ground wire goes to the frame from the blower, just have to trace it and replace if damaged. The blower would work in the lower settings on and off but as soon as you go to high the plug gets to hot and the connection is lost. Good luck and keep us all posted. :(
