95 sonoma 4.3l EGR?

my truck is running rough at idle when it gets hot
driving down the road is fine, just at idle, and it happens not all the time.
so could the egr valve be sticking and if so is there a way to clean them or u just have to replace them?

i have a hand scan tool but for some reason it won,t work, it said error
the scanner works fine on others

You can clean the EGR by removing it and using Seafoam Deep Creep cleaner, it also would not hurt for you to give the engine a Seafoam treatment and use two cans just to make sure you got your engine pretty much cleaned out. Replace your PVC valve and clean your throttle body, paring attention to your IAC.

Good luck and keep us posted and here is also a link for you to retrieve your DC codes if any as long as your have a OBDI system which should be on your 1995 Sonoma.
