Weak fuel pressure from a worn out fuel sending unit (Fuel Pump). Check your fuel pressure at the shredder valve is on the fuel line, which is located on the drivers side by the distributor. You should have 62-65 during cold start, ignition on with engine not running, once the engine starts. The fuel pressure will drop about 5 psi.

If your pinch off the return fuel line and test the fuel pressure again, you should get 75-85 psi, this is just a test to see if the fuel pump is still good. If the fuel pressure goes to those readings and you turn the ignition to the off position and the fuel pressure drops fast would indicate a leaky fuel pressure regulator.

Note also the ground to the fuel sending unit is separate from the sending unit wire harness. Common for the ground wire to corrode off the frame of the Jimmy, which causes a bad ground and in turn a low fuel pressure.

Star with these simple things and once determined that the fuel pump is worn out, replace it and be safe. Keep me posted and good luck.:D
