All,
I have a 96 GMC Sierra 2500 5.7 Vortec and the service engine light came on about 2 weeks ago. I have replaced the spark plugs, wires and coil. The light went away but came back on and is sputtering pretty bad when I get up to about 50 mph. I also changed the fuel filter because my fuel was running pretty rich. I have ran a diagnostics check on it multiple times and I keep getting a code for multiple misfires. I am no longer getting a code for my MAF or O2 sensors. I am trying to resolve this problem but I am running out of solutions. If I change my distributor cap and rotor will that likely resolve the issue I am having? Thank you in advance for your advice.

My similar problem was a knock sensor located in eng. block in front of starter...

Multiple misfires could be many things from the coil, dist. cap, rotor, poor grounding, low fuel pressure caused by clogged filter, trash in tank, weak fuel pump among others.
