Starting, mine starts good when its colder out, but is a bit harder to start warm. I have chcekd for vacume leaks and dont see any.. Slightly rough idle.. so close to ok I'm not really worried about it.

Do these things have alot of inside rattles? I have a 2 door and I have alot of noise in the passneger door or right behind it (cant tell from dirvers seat) and some noise in the back end tailgate area.

Clutch fan- are these things always noisey.. as in fan air noise (not bearing) really sounds like its pushng alot of air at low speeds.

how hard is a plug and wire change? I glanced and some of the plugs look kinda ugly.

Start by cleaning throttle body and IAC sensor.
Yes, lots of rattles (hard plastic used in the interior)
Fan moves a ton of air (my '98 is loud anyways)
1 spark plug is tricky, driver side, but do-able. (may have to get it from wheel well)
Good luck!

thanks, I think I will try a plug and wire change its got 96,000 so its close. The clutch fan pushing so much air makes it sound like the truck is really working hard till you look and see your RPM's are maybe 900 or 1100.. its just loud.

plastic, yes.. sad. my console creaks no matter what (going to use some silicon spray and see if it helps) as for the rattles.. I'm sure most can be gotten rid of.. I have a late 80's corvette, if I can make that not rattle Im sure I can this Jimmy too.

pretty happy with truck seems to do better on milage then I expected.. not great but OK (my last 4X4 was a 93 Explorer which got about 13 in town... Being a GM person it pains me to say.. but it was a nice truck, lots less rattels and such) I think im getting closer to 17 or so with the Jimmy.

Well the struck has worked fine.. used the Staarting Fluids spray trick to check for vacume leaks.. none.. Everything is very clean, truck was fairly well taken care of before i got it seems..Still has a slightly rouhg idle and starts a littel harder then I would like (fuel presuare gauge is on way to test, resualts this week) Rattles.. most are gone, but the rear HATCH is driving me batty it sqweeks.. I have made sure the tailgate rubber stoppers are tight so door does not move but its the glass latch Im sure. I'm going to try some type of lube but hate ot have a greasy thing sticking out of rear glass.. but the sqweek will drive me to car sucide (death to car not me) soon if i dont fix it..

My dreams of 17MPG have been dashed.. is closer to 15 ... i think .. only have about 500 miles on it.. still better then the Explorer. All in town so .. I guess its pretty average. Its strange i have a 96 Caravan i picked up for $300 that averages 21 all the time and its got 200,000 miles.. I have a 08 PT cruiser that averages about 24.. and a 87 vette that does almost 25 average.. and I drive it hard sometimes.. sad that old vette does better on gas then the new stuff.
