Need to remove the console so I can inspect a solenoid on the front of the shifter, and I don't see how to remove the shift handle so I can lift the console out of the way. Ultimately, that's the question I have. Details why I'm doing this, if you care, below:

Have a problem with the vehicle being stuck in "limp mode", only get 2nd & 3rd gear, service engine light on, ignition key won't turn all the way back to be removed, have to manually trip that ignition key solenoid. The vehicle is throwing the following codes:

P0740 Torque converter clutch solenoid circuit
P0753 Shift solenoid A electrical
P0758 Shift solenoid B electrical
P0785 Shift/timing solenoid
P1860 ECC PWM solenoid circuit

Have recently changed the ignition switch, but had this problem before and after the switch was replaced. Everything is tied to circuits hitting fuse #24, and the fuse is fine. Have inspected the electrical connections to the transmission, removed, cleaned, replaced, no effect.

Before you go and have your console taken apart, did you have your PCM inspected and tested to make sure your TCM section in your PCM is in working order??? There is no electrical solenoid switch connected to your floor shifter, it's located under the jimmy by the transmission shift leaver on the transmission it self on drivers side.

Here are the links for your shifter to your 1997 jimmy.
