somebody please help i have ran out of options. i bought this engine it is of a 98 S-10. i had installed new lifters pushrods and oil pump before putting the engine in my jimmy. started it and noticed that it was knocking. oil pressure reads good and it may be even a little higher than normal. we removed the velve covers started the car and hardly if any oil was comming through the most pushrods. some had more oil than others. if anybody can help ASAP i would greatly appreciate it. let me know if you need more details. oh yah its a 4.3L V6 2X4 with auto trans.

Knocking my be from bad wrist pins to the pistons and will need to be replaced be fore it fails causing you to replace the engine once again. Try running a bottle of http://www.marvelmysteryoil.com/, this will clear up any sludge build up throughout your engine oil journals and will show any issues to where you have oil gasket failure.

I also suspect that you have an oil gallery clogged. Pumps have spring loaded pressure relief valves built into them for safety. You can check the oil pressure by removing the pipe plug that is right near the oil filter, and installing a mechanical pressure gauge. That will eliminate electrical sender and gauge error.

These are the minimum oil pressure readings:
6.0 psig at 1,000 engine rpm

18.0 psig at 2,000 engine rpm

24.0 psig at 4,000 enigne rpm

Also I wouldn't put too much faith in the stock oil pressure gauge....the sender and or gauge could be going bad.

Good luck and keep us posted.
